Demon’s Hunger by Eve Silver

OK, so, I received this ARC of the book Demon’s Hunger by Eve Silver. And you would think that because I read her other books, Hidden and Driven, and loved them both, that I would have jumped on the first in her Demon series, Demon’s Kiss. But needless to say, that didn’t happen. So off I went and got Kiss before I could read Demon’s Hunger, because I am anal and OCD when it comes to my series!!

Both Demon books are about the brotherhood of the Compact of Sorcerers and the battle guarding the wall between the demon and the human worlds. It is the responsibility of the brotherhood, with their own special gifts to guarantee that the demons do not open the wall. And oooo boy….

I LOVED this book!! There is action, a strong heroine, a hunky macho guy, great humor, the fight between good and evil and lot’s of romance!! What more could anyone ask for?? The humor is a hoot! Like when Vivien tossed her fuzzy slipper, I snorted so loud I woke the Hubby and cat! And when she thinks “what is this, a three for one deal?” And these were at the beginning! You’ll have to read it to understand!! I really enjoyed the way Eve wrote the way Vivien and Dain worked together. And I liked how she made Vivien strong but needing help from, and wanting to help, Dain and the brotherhood. Dain appears to be the ultimate strong hero, but he has such a heartbreaking story for why he tries to hold back his feelings. Both characters were well written with great depth and feeling. And might I suggest you hold onto your seat for the ending? It sure was a surprise to me! Oh, and the supporting characters were just as interesting!! I CAN’T wait to read Darqun, Javier and Baunn’s stories!! GREAT book and GREAT series!!

What I want for Christmas…..

Dear Santa,

I have been a very good girl this year. What do I want for the holidays? An iTouch so that I can use Stanza to read all the romance I need from all the publishers I love that I buy at All Romance eBooks. You see, Santa, I deserve the iTouch because…

Like most everyone’s household in the country, this year money is EXTREMELY tight for Christmas. I have done my very best to scrimp and save, talked to extended family members about saving money and not exchanging gifts, all so I could get one single gift for my daughter, son and husband. And I did it!! This year won’t be like previous year’s with wrapped gifts under the tree. That can’t happen, and it was hard for my Hubby and I, talking to the kids to explain why things would be different. But after some good discussion, it was agreed that one gift would be purchased. Maybe one that was not necessarily wanted, but was needed. This may not be the “best” Christmas ever by way of many gifts under the tree, but I think it will be one of our most memorable, because we had a good family talk, worked together, found a solution, and feel comfortable with the result. The kids have learned that they’ve had and continue to have a fairly good life, we appreciate them and their ability to understand and adapt, and we have all gotten closer!! I couldn’t ask for a better family!! I have the best!!

But Santa…I’m going to be selfish and say that I found this wonderful opportunity here. And boyo, would I love to get myself something this Christmas!! Oooo, to win an iTouch and be able to read ebooks that I purchase from All Romance eBooks, what a Christmas it would be!! I know this isn’t exactly a gift that is needed, and actually there isn’t anything that I do need, but I could REALLY save money with this gift!! Because I am such a….

Undercover by Lauren Dane

Obviously I am not eloquent with my wording, because I noticed in my reviews here that I have been stating the books I’ve read recently are “great”, “fantastic”, “awesome” and so on. Maybe I need to find different words, or maybe I need to review books that are not so great. But I decided when I started this blog that I would only write about the books that I found truly fantastic, great, awesome and…..well, you get the idea!

Anyhoo, on with another awesomely, fantastic book!! LOL

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of Lauren Dane’s Undercover which is coming out on December 2nd. And shoooooeeee, talk about a really, really great book!! (notice the slight change!!) Lauren did such a fantastic job of taking the old class distinction prejudice, redefining it and putting it into the future. I have to say up front that it is a menage, but it is not the conventional menage, it is so much MORE than that. It is the story of Ash, from the upper class, forced by family and social conscience to marry the “right” girl. And being the typical man that he is, he thinks he can ”keep” the heroine, Sera.  Pffffftttt, what a bonehead!! Needless to say, that didn’t go as he planned! Because Sera is such a strong heroine, she wouldn’t accept that from Ash, so she left him, to spend quite a long time trying to recover and then trying to keep her feelings numb. Ten years later, enter Ash and his second in command Brandt. And here is where the shooooeeee comes in…..Brandt is the classy, elegant foil to Ash’s rough, outspoken demeanor. But Brandt has some wonderfully rough edges in all that elegance he has! He is the buffer to the hurt and hate that first runs through Ash and Sera. He then becomes the bow that ties them all together. Sera is so strong, but with a bruised and vulnerable heart, I couldn’t help but understand, sympathize and feel for her. And Ash and Brandt were such strong male creatures, they made me angry, laugh, cheer and fall in love with them both. This was so much a story of old love and rediscovery.(Ash & Sera) Of new love and trust. (Brandt & Sera) Of deep respect and great affection.(Ash & Brandt) It was a story of enough love for three hearts.

Oh, and in case you like your story with a little bit more than “just” the erotic romance, than this is definitely the story for you! It has family, enemies, action, adventure and intrigue. This is a MUST buy for everyone’s TBB list!! And this will positively go into my re-read pile!

If you’re not interested….sorrrrry, you’re gonna miss out on a GREAT story!!

Hunted Mate by Kari Thomas

If you love kitties(and wolfies!) as I do, than this is a story you will surely enjoy! But not just for the furries, this is a very entertaining story of the paranormal, shapeshifters and a prophesy. The hero, Logan and the heroine, Tara meet because of a prophesy that says Tara is to be mated to the Prince of the wolf shifter clan, thereby coming into her powers and ruling as Queen with Damien, the wolf Prince, over all the shifter clans. This story took different paths that added punch to the story and made it very interesting. I really enjoyed the way Logan and the heroine Tara meet and get to know each other! I made the mistake of reading that part late at night when my Hubby was sleeping beside me and when I couldn’t contain my laughter, I woke him up!! Kari wrote three believeable characters in Logan, the noble alpha hero who feels he must do the right thing to honor a debt, but his heart tells him something different. Tara, the naive girl with an interesting past trying to fight a prophesy she doesn’t fully believe in, is just discovering her powers and knows what she doesn’t want, but through discovery of herself, accepts what she is, her future and sets out to gain what she most wants in life. And Damien, the tortured hero, but with enough strength and love to make him very likable, was perfect as the secondary hero turned friend. I fell into this wonderful story and had my eyes glued and my heart involved from the beginning to end. This was a very entertaining read, perfect for a cold blustery fall/winter weekend, and I suggest you pick yourself up a copy today!! You can find more information and purchase your’s here.

The Missing by Shiloh Walker

This book looks soooo good. I anticipate another of Shiloh Walker’s wonderful stories!! I sure can’t think of one that I haven’t loved so far!! Check it out…

Excerpt

The weird sense of deja vu exploded into something else entirely. Something that shook her to the core. His eyes narrowed and he reached up, caught her chin in his, staring at her.

She was pale and Cullen thought she looked every bit as shaken as he felt. “The dreams,” he muttered. He caught her face in his hands and forced her to look at him, staring into her pale gray eyes. The ugly, dark bruise around her left eye made her iris seem that much paler and as he watched, the pupil flared, enlarging until just a sliver of gray of visible.

Taige tried to jerk away and he wouldn’t let her. “You had the dreams, too, didn’t you?” he demanded.

Her voice shook as she reached up with one hand to jerk on his wrist, trying to break his hold. “Let go of me.”

Slowly, he shook his head. “You have,” he whispered, dismay spreading through him.

Dismay–and something else. She’d always held herself apart from him in those dreams. But through those dreams, he’d gotten to know her, gotten to know the woman she had become. She was pulling away from him not because she was angry at him, or because she didn’t want anything to do with him.

She pulled back because she still loved him.

Getting Closer!

Shoooeeee, been busy lately! But I did manage to read a buncha books! And some good great ones too!! I’ll post more info on a few of those in a few days. But I did want to update what Patrice has on her site about her book Scions: Perception published under the Nocturn BITE line. Here is the blurb;

Abby had barely survived the treacherous drive to Kaitlyn’s house through an ice storm. Then, forced to break in when she couldn’t find the key, she was immediately grabbed by someone in the dark. She gave her assailant the fight of his life…until his accusation that she was a
burglar told her a mistake had been made. Now, facing her opponent, she was overwhelmed by an electric attraction more intense than any she’d ever felt.

Gabriel was impressed by this fascinating spitfire. He also felt the most intense desire of his life–a relentless need so powerful it tore him apart. He understood immediately that Abby was the one–the female destined as his mate for life. But Abby wasn’t like the other females he’d been with. For one thing, she was human. Gabriel didn’t trust humans one bit. But the realization hit him–if he was to win Abby, he would have to win her trust…and Abby wasn’t going to make it easy.

Oooo, I’m very much looking forward to this one coming out November 1st!! And then one month later, Scions: Revelation is due out on December 1st.

SCIONS:REVELATION!

I just got this information in a couple of emails the other day from Patrice Michelle;

This is from the back cover blurb;

They thought they understood the prophesy. They were wrong.

Caine Grennard was a werewolf, living among humans and lacking purpose–until the night he met a woman with an exotic, irresistible scent. A woman who might be his deadliest enemy.

When her aunt is kidnapped, Emma Gray swears to do anything to get the older woman back. Even if it means trusting the mysterious-and sexy–stranger named Caine.

But more is at stake than one woman’s life: Emma’s past holds the last key to unlocking a prophesy Caine’s clan are depending on. The fate of both their clans rests on them trusting the impossible, electric
connection between them, even in the heart of betrayal…

Scions: A prophecy reveals hidden secrets and holds the key to fulfilling their ultimate desires.

And here’s a line from the book;

“And then you were there, standing beside me wearing `women’ as a second set of clothes and offering to buy me a drink.”

WOWzzzzzerrrrrrrrrrrr!! I so, so, so, so, so CAN’T wait!!!!! December is such a looooooooooonnnnnnnnnngg way away. *pout*

And included was the little tidbit that she has written a novella related to the series!! Squeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Oh………..P…a…t…r…i…c…e…………….I’m w…a…i…t…i…n….g.

And you know I have NO patience waiting for my Scions!! :-)

The Fairy’s of Fairyville

I have been into contemporary stories lately, so when I won Emma Holly’s Fairyville in a contest, I put it off for a while before reading it. What a HUGE mistake!!

This was a fun story of fairies and love. With an interesting view of fairies living in the human world and changelings (babies switched at birth). And love. Between a man and a woman, between a man and a man and various combinations between. And to say, I do not normally go for M/M stories (they have to be very well written for me to continue reading), but this was so well written, I was caught up in the story and felt this element was blended beautifully. It is by no means the focus of the story.

Now, Magnus, a fairy prince, loves Zoe, who is human. She doesn’t know he is a fairy. He must have lots of sex with other women to stay in the human world, because when he has sex with someone he cares for he will go back to the fairy world, but Zoe doesn’t know this. She sees him with other women, knowing what he is doing, and is very hurt.

When Zoe’s high school love, Alex returns to town with his best friend Bryan, she finds herself torn between old feelings and her love for Magnus. Add in that Alex left town and Zoe on the tail of a scandal of epic proportions as far as Fairyville goes, and you have one involved story.

Oh, and let’s not forget the evil Queen, the mischievous fairies, a hateful mother, helpful residents and wonky friends!!

This was a story of love between two very different couples, and a story of the four (not two!) main characters’ friendship with each other. Each of the four has a story with the other and a story of their own, with a problem to overcome. Two think their love is not returned and two are not what they portray themselves as. It is a story of awakening and self discovery. Good and evil and love.

If you haven’t read this and are willing to keep your mind open, run…run…run to buy this!!

Beautiful Girl was a BEAUTIFUL book!

Let’s just say that in the last few months, I read Shiloh Walker’s Beautiful Girl and was so touched by the story line, I’ve tried to start this post a few times and didn’t know where to begin. When I sit here thinking of what to write, I start thinking about the story again and get lost remembering. Which then causes me to go back and re-read the book again!! What a moving, emotional book!!

Again, I’m sitting here trying to figure out where to begin. Should I start with the heartwarming, the irritating, the frustrating or the heart-wrenching??

Del Prescott was hurt horribly as a teenager in high school. By one of the people everyone should be able to count on the most. How she manages to keep herself so together for the length of time it takes for her to return to her hometown and resolve events, is a question I asked myself frequently.

Blake Mitchell is the man she loved and left when she was just entering womanhood. He was the perfect man for Del as a teenager and when she returned to her hometown and eventually back to him. Blake is so well written you feel everything he feels. And if you don’t want to pulverize the bad guys along with him, than you just “read” this book. You didn’t FEEL it!

Ms. Walker made these two characters so real, so believable, I was drawn so far into the story that I giggled, sighed, got angry and cried through out. *sigh*

Ms. Walker has a way with words that I do not read very often. And I read A LOT. The first author I ever contacted about a book, was Ms. Walker. I read No Longer Mine and was so drawn into the story, I stayed up all night and by the end, was actually afraid of what the outcome would be. I had to put the book down before finishing the last chapter so I could drive my son to school!! And it was a good thing too! A phone call to my local bookseller, and I was on auto-buy for any future Shiloh Walker books. And I would have sent another email to Ms. Walker about Beautiful Girl, but I don’t want her to think I am stalking her!! :-)

If I could rate this book between 1-10, I would rate it a 9.99. And the less than a full 10 is only because on one page it’s stated that Del thread her hands through Blake’s hair and that couldn’t have happened. And that, in no way do I feel is Ms. Walker’s mistake. There were too many checkpoints from Ms. Walker’s mind to my hands. So along with No Longer Mine, consider Beautiful Girl two 10’s in my humble opinion.

*edit* Have read for the third time now!!
